This weeks reading of A Curse of Tea and Potations from Encarnacions Kitchen was extremely insightful on the how cookbooks connect cultures in the United States. It was interesting to see the tie of what we have discussed in class of how in the United States, the general American cuisine is more of a melting pot of how different cultures could connect into a divers population. It is also meaningful of how they hold roots to their own lives with the foods they create such as shown in Piedo’s cookbook. The largest takeaway I got from this reading is how impactful and expressive food can be to one culture or even individuals. I see cookbooks as a form of art with how they express what they feel or experience through the food they share.
