Food studies is the study of the relationship between food and the human experience. Food studies can either be interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary depending on if people are studying the food or if people relationship with food is being studied. The authors explain that the food that people eat can show their beliefs, passions, background knowledge, and assumptions, and their personalities. The need for food is a biological drive that is inside of everyone. Food overall, can be a helpful tool in the study of anthropology due to it teaching about human habits. Having a better understanding of food and how it can influence people decisions is an important tool in life. It can allow an insight into people that words can not convey. I feel like this reading did a good job of introducing food studies and explaining the importance of this discipline.
