Intro to Food Studies

Food studies is a diverse and multifaceted field. The chapter began to explain how different people’s experiences with food can shape them and how food can be used to study people. A large part of food studies seems to focus on how whole cultures have been shaped by their food and the food that is available to them. I would be very interested in contrasting how different ancient cultures developed differently because of their varying food sources. Of course, the most fascinating part of any research is always personal stories, which the chapter is sure to highlight, and how those stories relate to a larger whole. Although I have no experience in the specific field of food studies, the chapter emphasized how methods from different disciplines, so I am looking forward to applying skills from previous courses to this one. The first chapter of this book gave me a look into how I might do that in this and further courses.
