After reading these excerpts this week I reflected on what related to me and what we have already learned in this class. So far we have talked about cuisine and how it differs in different places and how people taking certain dishes and put twists on them. In the readings from this week, the recipes were very unique to her culture, family and experiences. It made me want to read it again to get the full understanding of how it was meant to be perceived. The part on how it was a struggle for the women to be published and they had to go extra lengths to get to success was sad because the white men dominated the letters being in English and Mexican women were silenced in the history for so long. It was sad that she had to go through all this to have a voice so others could be helped by her.
